I really don't think EA has some moral imperative to do anything at all in this circumstance, at least not publicly. They are Mut 21 coins not the reason for the issue, it might be easy and suitable for them to stay quiet or skirt about this political issue, but they did not. They had three choices: say nothing, say something, or say something and make a dramatic gesture. Anything above the bare minimum is worth acknowledging in my eyes. I really don't see it as"babying" them to acknowledge that a company statement that I concur with. And while we are being antagonistic in these Reddit remarks because that's the prevailing tone of this place, I don't believe anything you've said has come across as disrespectful in any respect and that I hope you think the same about what I have said.
I'm very thankful we managed to have the conversation we did and we're seeing businesses place their money where their mouth is. The weekend was rough on my psychological health and outlook on what's gonna get done and that probably reached in my remarks, and that can still change as the times come and go. But now seeing protests get even bigger and more calm than before and visiting businesses actually do shit, it gets me a little more optimistic. I hope we see real change. Thank you for a discussion that at least gave me a fresh outlook. I don't need companies saying something. In fact I am fed up with companies saying things. Create your product. Make it good. Then shut up and let actual people speak. No one needs corporations to speak for them.
As it's absurd bullshit meant to placate dumb white people that can easily be susceptible to this type of marketing tactic. This marketing tactic where companies express commitments to resist injustice whilst avoiding specifics regarding what precisely is wrong, what needs to change, and what they're going to do about it. Every single fucking company does this and it is empty rhetoric. That is not worthy of applause. They don't give a single fuck. This is precisely the same EA that censored the term"Kaepernick" from a song in multiple games now in an effort to avoid offending their fragile white player base. So no I am not going to be pleased that a company like EA does nothing and expects praise for doing nothing. Individuals catching that and calling it out isn't nihilism. It's realism. What does saying something accomplish? Why should anybody be happy about E-fucking-A posing the delay of a game reveal as though it's somehow related to the current unrest?
Don't give companies brownie points for doing the easiest thing. This is corporate slacktivism, all sound no action. Donations, crying out to resources people can use or donate to themselves, doing something with any material more than stating"shouts out to oppressed minorities, we will wait to market to you until you have some attention to spare?" Or, best case scenario, just announcing a delay without tying it into something entirely irrelevant to them except for its effects in their reveal. It's not, till they want to pretend delaying their marketing plan is an act of solidarity. Solidarity simply means that they agree with their origin, and there is nothing that suggest they don't. Yes, there is, the simple fact that they have done nothing to benefit anyone but themselves. Don't be a fool that believes there is any burden whatsoever to a buy Madden nfl 21 coins corporate entity"taking a negative" by delaying marketing materials. It is a completely pointless, neutral thing and EA deserves no credit for it.
