The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and teams are starting to make moves. We've already seen a handful of big deals (Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones, David Perron for Carl Hagelin) including the ma sive nine-player trade that saw Dion Phaneuf go from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Ottawa Senators. Given where both teams sit in the standings, it's not going to have much of an impact on the playoff race. But at some point during the next few weeks, a number of trades are going to be made that will have an impact on teams that are headed to the postseason. Here, we take a look at a handful of teams that should be doing some shopping leading up to the Feb. 29 deadline and which players they should be trying to make a run at in an effort to strengthen their postseason chances.<imgarticle-body-ad-0"> Who they should target: ()Because of the salary cap, the Chicago Blackhawks roster underwent a ma sive overhaul during the summer, and it has continued during the season with moves for and Richard Panik. Jesper Fast Kids Jersey Even with all of that movement, the Blackhawks are once again back near the top of the NHL standings and looking like a contender to win yet another Stanley Cup.So what do they need to add to help them get their name back on it? A top-line left winger -- and an old friend could be the guy.Trading Brandon Saad over the summer helped the Blackhawks fill their second-line center hole ( has been fantastic) and gave them a talented young prospect in Marko Dano. But it left a pretty big opening on their top line. After re-signing to a new contract extension earlier this week the Winnipeg Jets are now facing a tough decision with their captain, Andrew Ladd.Ladd is an unrestricted free agent after the season and would take a large commitment to get him back on a new deal and his situation seemed to take a back seat to Byfuglien's deal in Winnipeg.Ladd has a history with the Blackhawks and was a member of their 2010 Stanley Cup winning team before he had to be traded away in their first salary-cap purge. He would be a huge addition to their Lias Andersson Kids Jersey lineup if they could figure out a way to get him back. Cap space is still an i sue for the Blackhawks, but they wouldnt need to clear more than $200,000 at the deadline to add Ladd. Jay Zawaski of CBS Chicago , while also speculating the going rate for a rental like Ladd at the deadline is probably going to be a first-round draft pick (which the Blackhawks have) and a prospect. Is that a steep price to pay for a rental? Sure. But when you're a team like the Blackhawks it's the type of gamble you have to be willing to take because a player like Ladd could make all of the difference in the world when it comes to winning another Stanley Cup. Add him to that lineup, and it would be difficult to see another team in the league that could match that depth.<imgarticle-body-ad-3"> Who they should target: ()Don't rule out the the Ducks as a Oscar Lindberg Jersey contender in the West just yet. They have been on a tear since starting the season with only one victory in their first 10 games, they have an outstanding defense and two goalies who are playing really well this season. They rate well in all of the areas Stanley Cup-winning teams excel in (goals against, penalty killing, and shot differential) and if they can finish in the top three of the Pacific Division, they should get a pretty favorable first-round matchup. What theyre mi sing is just a little bit more offense. The Bruins would be an intriguing trade partner because of their current situation with Loui Erik son. On one hand, Erik son is a key part of the Bruins playoff push this season and an offense that has been, surprisingly, near the top of the NHL. But he is also a free agent after the season and the Bruins may not want or have the ability to pay him what he'll be looking for. That has made him the focus of trade speculation. If the Bruins do decide to shop him, the Ducks are a team that should have an interest, and given their current crop of young, talented defensemen, could be an intriguing match. The Bruins defense has undergone a significant turnover in recent years with the trades of Johnny Boychuk and Dougie Hamilton, and isnt getting any younger. They could certainly use some long-term help at the position. They already swapped for (which clears an awful lot of salary-cap space over the next Steven Kampfer Jersey few years) and adding a two-way player like Erik son who's playing the way he is could be a huge game-changer for the Ducks.<imgarticle-body-ad-5"> Their problem was, and remains, one of goal prevention. With and signed to long-term contracts, they have a ton of money invested in goaltending are unlikely to make a move there, but they could probably use another addition on their blue line. is emerging as one of the top offensive-defensemen in the league, while , and are reliable veterans. But they could still probably use another steady hand back there.Somebody like Hamhuis. The problem the Stars (or any team that is potentially interested in Hamhuis) would face is that the Canucks would have to be willing to sell (they are currently three points out of a playoff spot as of Thursday) and Hamhuis would have to be willing to move. His contract contains a no-trade clause and he seems happy in Vancouver (he is from the area).<imgarticle-body-ad-6"> Who they should target: ()Earlier this season, I would have said (and did say) that defense should have been the Penguins' biggest trade deadline priority. The group that started the year with and Rob Scuderi playing Ron Greschner Men Jersey regularly was not a good one and needed a lot of work. But the addition of from Chicago, the recent call-up of top prospect , the continued development of and the fact that Cole no longer seems to be an option has played a big role in improving the unit as a whole. They could probably still use some additional help, but it doesnt seem to be the priority it was earlier in the season. What might be a priority is the same type of thing we always seem to talk about at this point in the season: A little more scoring depth. When healthy the Penguins top two lines seem to be set with centering and and skating between and Carl Hagelin. Now that Crosby is back to being Crosby, those two units are going to be a tough matchup for anybody, and once they get Nick Bonino and Eric Fehr back healthy, they should have plenty of depth down the middle, as well. The wings in their bottom six are a little more unsettled.Due to injury, the Penguins' third and fourth lines right now are made up entirely of players who started the season in the AHL, and to their credit, they have held their own and even added some much-needed speed to the lineup.Boedker, an impending free agent whom the Coyotes might not be able to re-sign, could be just that type of player. Once you get beyond Ku
