Even with a bike or 2K MT skateboard players will be spending almost as much time navigating around The City as they do playing basketball. Even though both hubs offer attractive designs but it's some kind of wastage of time.

The fun of NBA 2K23 doesn't stop with MyCareer. There are new tweaks to MyTeam which include a badge system to be used on cards similar to the badges that are used in other 2K modes to create a wider range of lineups and play styles. There are also changes to Unlimited as well as Limited games.

A new Draft mode, as well as a revamped mode, The 100. Sadly, these modes all feel underdeveloped and don't bring any fresh excitement to the table of competitive play. It's also mainly in these mode that the microtransactions, which are included in NBA 2K23 really show.

While attempting to enter game play in MyCareer without spending money may be daunting, the NBA games and practices will at the very least provide an instant boost to this undertaking if it is done properly. In MyTeam there is a lack of depth and variety in the competitive modes makes going up against other players who have already spent money on packs that much harder, and makes single-player modes more attractive.

It's virtually impossible to play any mode within a recent NBA 2K game without running into microtransactions. 2K23 is no different. However the franchise has mastered the same thing so often now that it's nearly become the background music for players who are consistent which is a sign that 2K has simply taught people to be used to the unexpected.

Aside from the unfortunate microtransactions and bloated hubs, the main negatives are the lackluster changes for Cheap NBA 2K MT MyLeague, MyGM, and The W. Each of these modes still plays well, but it's clear they aren't a prime goal. 2K23 offers nothing new over last year's game to players who love these modes apart of improved gameplay when players take to the court.
