A useless dungeon finder has been added to Wrath of the Lich King Classic, and some World of Warcraft players are upset that they are not receiving feedback.
The LFG tool for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic had a number of issues, including players defaulting to the tank role. Wrath of the Lich King Classic was released as a pre-patch on August 30th and is expected to be released in full on September 26th.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic is the second sourcebook on the World of Warcraft Classic servers, following the Burning Expedition Classic that was released in May. World of Warcraft Classic allows players to relive the game's original 2006 format with certain updates to the original version and its expansions to improve game balance and quality of life. For example, Burning Expedition Classic differs from the original version with a few minor changes designed to improve the gaming experience. For WotLK Classic, these changes include the LFG tool. In the original sourcebook, the LFG tool had a simplified process for finding WotLK classic gold where you could simply select a dungeon, choose a character, and queue.
Now, with the release of WotLK Classic, players must find that the original LFG tool has been replaced with something complex, buggy, and problematic. As reported by PC Gamer, players discussed in a Reddit thread that the dungeon finder specifies every profession as a tank character, regardless of their skills. The Finder also allows any WoW class to queue any character, which players feel is affecting the composition of dungeon groups. This means that a player who mistakenly or maliciously queues the wrong character will have to kick the other members of the party. Players can abuse this system by simply queuing the character with the shortest wait time. The LFG tool menu has also been criticized for requiring multiple clicks to find a dungeon and for having to repeatedly refresh the data to stay current.
The LFG tool in Wrath of the Lich King Classic was met with a lot of annoyance. There have been complaints about the dungeon finder throughout its beta period, and users on Reddit have been frustrated that it hasn't improved since then. While World of Warcraft's cross-faction raids were praised, Dungeon Finder was seen as a step in the opposite direction, with players complaining that Activision Blizzard simply ignored them.
The LFG tools in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic have changed in a positive way, but the bad definitely outweighs the good and is currently in a terrible state. Frustrated, fans are turning to Activision Blizzard for answers.
