Brenda Jerkins from the popular 80s sitcom 227(1985-90) still rules the audience's heart. This afro-American actress came into the limelight by giving an outstanding performance in the show Regina King and has been part of Television sitcoms for 37 years. Recently, Time magazine included her name in the list of 100 most influential personal; cities worldwide.

Regina King: Career

Regina King set foot in the television world at the very young age of 14. It was pretty uncommon for a child to do acting in the 80s. Regina played the role of Brenda Jerkins in a popular American sitcom 227(1985-90). The audience liked the girl and appreciated her performance as a child. Along with her studies, Regina also started accepting side roles in the movies. She appeared in a 1995 comedy movie called "Friday." Also, she was part of a big sitcom project called The Boondocks, which began in 2005. The show became popular and lasted approximately ten years, from 2005-2014. The show was an animated adult comedy based on a black American dysfunctional family in which Regina was the voice of two brothers, Huey Freeman, and Riley Freeman. 

Moreover, Regina King was part of the NBC crime drama Southland where she played the part of Lydia Adams, a detective. She appeared in a recurring role in American crime in 2015 and won two primetime Emmys for outstanding performance in recurring roles in a limited series.

Furthermore, Regina also directed a feature film called One Night in Miami in 2020, for which she got nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of best director.

Regina King: Divorce and Son’s death

Regina King tied the knot with record producer Ian Alexander Sr. in 1997. However, due to some personal differences, the couple decided to walk on separate paths. Eventually, the couple took divroce in 2007 after 10 years of marriage.  The couple shared a son Ian Alexander Jr. born in 1996. Unfortunately, Ian Alexander Jr. committed suicide in Jan,2022 leaving the family in grief. The social media was flooded with the new but the reason for the suicide is still unknown.
