Here, we'll walk you through the steps of logging into your Netgear Orbi and showing you how to customize its settings for optimal wireless performance and safety. Perhaps you've purchased and installed your Netgear Orbi but have never returned to its administrative interface. You haven't logged in to your Netgear Orbi in a while, and now you need to alter something (maybe you've been with the same internet service provider for years and have finally chosen to switch to a better offer), but you have no idea how to do so.

Those who identify with this situation or one like it will find helpful information in this post. No matter why you need to access the admin panel of your Netgear Orbi, we've got you covered with these simple instructions.

After that, we'll spend a little time discussing some of the more frequent settings you might wish to alter while within the Orbi's menus, such as the Quality of Service (QoS) options.

You can access your Netgear Orbi login in two major ways: through a computer's web browser or a mobile device's app. All right, let's take on those choices in that sequence.

Instructions for Accessing Your Netgear Orbi From a Computer

Most common means of accessing a Netgear Orbi

The very first thing you must do is launch a web browser (any browser will suffice). Next, enter the following into your browser's address (URL) bar and hit Enter:

http://www.Orbilogin.net

It's also possible to type:

Orbilogin.com

The Orbi's login window should appear requesting your username and password. Continue to Step 3 if yes. If the Orbi's login window does not open, move to Step 2.

Remember that the Orbis in your Orbi mesh network can be accessed by either http://www.orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com setup.

Second, a different means of accessing your Netgear Orbi (via IP)

In addition, you can access your Netgear Orbi directly by entering its IP address in the browser's address bar.

The IP address is a four-digit number separated by periods that serves as a digital address for your Orbi on the local network. A typical IP address looks like 192.168.xxx.x, where the final xxx can be any number.

This IP address is likely listed in your Orbi's documentation; if not, it's a simple matter to locate it on your computer.

Type "C" into the Windows 10 search box (right next to the Start button) to see a list of options that begin with the letter "C" pick the CMD/CMD.EXE option. If you're using Windows 7 or older, go to the Start menu, then the Search box (or the magnifying glass icon), key in "cmd," and select "Command Prompt" from the results.

Input your login information

Enter your username and password into the corresponding fields on the Netgear Orbi's login window, and then click the button labeled "Sign in."

Now that you're within the Netgear Orbi's menus, you can go to this article's (optional) section about commonly changed settings.

The one catch is if you lose access because you forgot your login credentials. You did alter these settings. Well, at least the password, right?

If you're using the default username "admin" and password "password" (which are probably printed on the bottom of your Orbilogin), you should change them immediately.

Still, if you have no idea what your password details are, you might as well give these a whirl. Make careful to replace them afterward. You'll have to try recovering the password if it doesn't work.

Recovering a Lost Password

If you're prompted to enter a username and password for your Netgear Orbi, just hit the Cancel button. The Orbi Password Recovery screen will show if you have enabled password recovery.

The Orbi's serial number (located on the bottom of the unit) and a set of security questions will be required. After that is complete, the password will be shown to you.

We're afraid you're out of luck if you either didn't enable password recovery or have forgotten the answers to the security questions. If you've forgotten the Netgear Orbi login credentials for your Netgear Orbi, a factory reset will restore the factory settings (as discussed above).

First, power on the Orbi so you can access the menus, and then, once you've located the reset button, press it to return the device to its factory settings (it will almost certainly be on the rear of the device). For the next seven seconds, hold a paperclip firmly against this hole (maybe a few more for good measure).

Once you reset the Orbi, all settings will be erased, so be careful (you will need to set up the device again from scratch).
