Doubling is a process in which two or more individual yarns are grouped or combined together and then twisted. This twisting process enhances a number of properties in the final product.

It is a process that improves the evenness, strength and elongation, luster, smoothness and abrasion resistance of yarns. It also reduces hairiness and crimp.

Doubled Yarns

Doubled yarns are produced when two single yarns are plied together in as doubling machine. This can be done on either ring or air-jet spinning systems, but it is easiest to do with a machine that does both.

In the English Cotton Count yarn numbering system, a singles yarn would be written with a count/1 while a doubled or plied yarn would be written with a size/2. This is because each ply of yarn would be half the effective yarn count of the final, total yarn count.

Yarns that are doubled tend to be stronger than those produced by using just a single yarn. This makes them good for bigger projects that require multiple strands of yarn. However, they take more preparation time and can be difficult to unwind if you decide later that you want to use just one of the strands on its own.

Two-For-One (TFO)

Two for one (TFO) technology is the big daddy of all spinners and snags. This patented process uses small diameter spindles to spin up the bling. TFOs can be found in all parts of the globe, and you guessed it; it's a good thing. The best part is that they cost less than a cup of coffee. It all starts with a smart phone and an online storefront, of course! To keep the magic in motion, a dedicated team of gurus is on hand to ensure your TFO magic happens on time, on schedule.

Double Twisted Yarns

Twisted yarns are made from multiple strands that are twisted together. The twist binds the fibres together, and it also increases their strength.

A twisted yarn is often used to create fabrics that are breathable and lighter in weight, which makes them ideal for summer clothing. They are also wrinkle-free and have a good drape.

They can be produced from various materials, including wool and cotton. They have high tensile strength and are durable.

The doubled twisted yarn is twisted twice before being wound on a bobbin. The doubling twist can affect the quality of the final fabric, and is often done to improve dimensional stability or increase its durability.

There are different types of twisted yarns, such as S-twist and Z-twist. These are determined by the direction that the twist runs during the manufacturing process.

Twisting Machines

Twisting machines, also called ply twisters or doublers, are devices designed to twist two or more single yarns in order to improve their properties and satisfy textile requirements that cannot be fulfilled by the single texturing yarn. These improvements include improved evenness, strength and elongation, lusture, smoothness and abrasion resistance at the yarn stage as well as increased stability against wear and improvement to fabric cover and visual appearance at the fabric stage.

Nargesa MT500A is a completely electronic machine for the production of twisted cords to be used in trimmings, decorative products and special fabrics. It is equipped with a complete set of standard tooling, enabling the user to make a great deal of shapes: twisted, scrolls, bending, hooks, chains.
