This guide will teach you how to take on General Graardor by using the power of amazing skill. This strategy can net more than 30 kills per excursion if you've got the right equipment and are able to practice. It is also possible to use this method with less gear and lower numbers, but it will take longer and be more difficult. It is very important that you have high magic precision to be able to consistently make your freezes.
Strategy:
The basic plan of attack is easy. The most basic method is to start in the corner nearest the door and run clockwise around it. General Graardor's melee-wielding minion is kept in a frozen state by Ice Barrage. The first kill will be difficult because Graardor and his minions are already roaming around the area.
The First Kill:
If you are going to kill your first time Try to wait until Graardor and his melee minion have moved a few feet away from the entrance before entering. Graardor is extremely strong and you can't afford to be hit. If, at any time, General Graardor is close to you, you need to change to melee prayer immediately. Once the coast is clear, start praying range and go through the front door. Once inside, you have to freeze Graardor. Even the top equipment will not be capable of freezing him. Thus, you must blast Ice Barrage until you can freeze him. You can also freeze the melee minion after the minion is frozen. When both are frozen, you can swap between the Sanguinesti Staff or Toxic Trident to make some strikes. It is possible to run counterclockwise from corner to corner in order to freeze them. Rinse and repeat.
The Farm:
After you've killed him the first time you will be able to predict where he's going to spawn from now on. You are able to plan ahead. You can sit in the southwest area of the room while you wait for him to appear. There's enough time to cast two barrages before having to leave. You are able to cast Ice Barrage a second times, but you will need switch to melee prayer in order to do so. Graardor may get a hit just before the cast is over and could be hit strike if you fail to cast.
Here are some suggestions:
I strongly recommend that you bring blood runes to use with Blood Barrage to help heal the minions in between boss killings. It's not as important in the case of Sanguinesti Staffs, but it's still worthwhile as you are able to pile the mobs together slightly to strike them all with the Blood Barrage. Also, I recommend taking Bones to Peaches tabs. This will let you get more kills in one go.
Once you are comfortable with the overall strategy and feel comfortable with the overall strategy, you can begin praying. Flicking between Range and Mage prayers will drastically increase your longevity on trips when you are able to manage it properly, but it's a challenge to manage all the micromanagement that you'll be performing while you are mage soloing. This can increase your efficiency in the long-term however, you shouldn't wait until you've mastered the basics.
