Major League Baseball's RawlingsGold Glove Awardwinners for 2014were announced Tuesday night. Voting was done by managers and coaches before the end of the regular season.

Three American League squad was dominated by theRoyals and Orioles, who met in the ALCS. Kansas City placedAlex Gordon (left field),Eric Hosmer (first base) and Salvador Perez (catcher), while Baltimore placed J.J. Hardy (shortstop), Adam Jones (center field) and Nick Markakis (right field). Markakis became a free agent this week.All six playersare multiple-timewinners, with Gordon winning for a fourth consecutive season.

"It was something that was pretty special to watch," Gordon said of the Royals' defense this season.

"We've said from day one, if you can't play defense, there's probably not a spot for you in our everyday lineup, Dallas Cowboys Kids Jersey " Royals general manager Dayton Moore said.

Perez said he thought Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain, third baseman Mike Moustakas and shortstop Alcides Escobar could winGoldGlovesin the near future.

The NL team was slightly more diverse, with two members of the Braves (Andrelton Simmons, Jason Heyward), Dodgers (Adrian Gonzalez, Zack Greinke) and Rockies (DJ LeMahieu,Nolan Arenado) each receiving awards. Also, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina won for the seventh consecutive season.

Managers and coaches voted for the awards in their own leagues. The Society for American Baseball Research's Defensive Index factored about 25 percent into the results.

GoldGloveshave often been among the most discu sed and disputed of the postseason awards.

More advanced ways of measuring glovework such as Ultimate Zone Rating and Defensive WAR have sometimes overtaken statistics such as errors and fielding percentage that often determined the Dallas Cowboys Pet Gear winners. Reputation also carried a lot of weight over the years.
